Diagrams

The above diagram shows the vertical loading distribution on the Lancaster wing of the building. Typical loads such as snow/rain, vehicle (in the garage portion), equpiment, and people account for the overall weight. The loads are transferred horizontally across the roof and floor slabs, down into the foundation through the columns, and into the earth.

 

The above diagram shows the lateral load path on the Lancaster wing of the building. The main lateral loads appied to the building are from wind. The loads are transferred through the horizontal slabs and then down through the columns to the foundations and into the earth.
