Vertical Circulation Paths

Below are drawings that show the patterns of how people and vehilces are supposed to flow through the building. Some spaces like the parking garage and the residential floors have simple circulation paths where there is only one route to take. Other places, like the dining area and the ground level, have open layouts allowing people to choose their own path in exploring the building.
The vertical circulation paths show the manner in which people move from one floor to another. This includes all of the stair towers and elevators in the building. Not only is this important in terms of convenience for the occupants, but it is also necessary to meet egress building codes in the event of an emergency. Their need to be ample stairwells and bulding exits to be able to evacuate everyone from the building in an orderly and timely fashion if a dangerous incident should occur such as fire or earthquake.
